Recycling and Circularity
Here at Perflute we like to use post-consumer recycled fiber feedstocks to make our products. At the end of Perflute’s usable life it is readily recyclable through existing systems and processes.
The circular economy prioritizes solutions that design out waste and pollution at the source in order to reduce the need for recycling. Recycling forms one of loops within a circular economy, along with reuse, repair/refurbish, remanufacture, and sharing.
Recycling offers a solution for waste that cannot be designed out of the system or cycled higher up the product value chain.
Even in a fully circular economy there is a need for material recycling to capture and process resources that would otherwise end up in landfill, reducing the reliance on the use of virgin materials and their associated environmental impact.

There are many reasons why fiber is a better choice than plastic
Recyclable and recycled
Fiber, or cardboard, is the go-to environmental choice for packaging materials. Fiber is made from timber resources that are sustainable, renewable, and is one of the most widely recycled materials in use today. In contrast, flexible plastic bubble packaging is made almost entirely from fossil fuels that are neither sustainable or renewable, and have a very low recycling rate.
Cost competitive
A key benefit of using recycled fiber as the feedstock for Perflute is its low cost. We try to use as much recycled fiber as possible, making Perflute commercially competitive to plastic bubble packing.
Superior impact performance
Perflute is design to deliver superior impact performance. In testing we can show that Perflute has double the impact protection performance when compared to plastic bubble alternatives.
Biodegradable and compostable
When it comes to decomposition, fiber is biodegradable and can be home composted. Fiber can fully break down in several months under good conditions, unlike plastic which is a hazardous environmental pollutant that can take decades or more to decompose.
